here comes henry: the quincentennial

exactly 500 years ago today, at the measly age of seventeen, henry viii ascended the throne upon the death of his father. this guy was quite simply . . . . the biggest meathead ever to take the crown. he wasn't just a user and abuser . . . . but a wife killer too. he created his own church when the pope wouldn't let him get an annulment (the church of england). he did things his way. he was the testiest of the tudors . . . . the meanest of the monarchs . . . . he was a 'bro' in the time before 'bros.'and if nothing else, he certainly didn't lack originality.
