cain you believe we beat ursinus?!

so tonight, we went to the cain athletic center to see our beloved washington college shoremen take on the ursinus bears. it was a basketball contest for the ages . . . . well actually, it was a pretty mediocre game. but all in all it was a good experience. believe it or not, this was the first game i had been to all season. i felt obligated to attend due to the fact that many of the same people in the stands (along with some of the basketball players) more than likely attended some of our home soccer games in the fall. it's only fair to support the other programs in return for their rabid and diligent fandom.

the game itself actually seemed fairly one sided. in the first half, it was almost as if no matter how hard we worked, the bears were always a few points ahead. but amazingly in the second half, the shoremen awoke from their deep and dreary slumber, only to find themselves in actual contention. with a foul here and there, and a timely steal or two, they clawed their way back into the game. as the final buzzer sounded we all arose to our feet. the shoremen had defended their house. a proud feat . . . . no matter who the opponent is. as we filed through the gymnasium lobby, the players exuberantly returned from ringing the victory bell. and that my friends, is a sound that never gets old.

i look forward to attending the next basketball game. and if we're lucky, the outcome will be a similar one. let's go wac!
